Help & FAQ
How Perfect Match actually works, in plain terms.
How does matching actually work?
We compare your Big Five personality traits, lifestyle answers, relationship intent, and any deal-breakers you've set against every other candidate in your community/religion category. That produces a compatibility score and a confidence rating — higher when both of you have completed more of your profile.
Why can't I see a photo or name right away?
By design. Discover only shows a match percentage, age, and city until you both pass the compatibility challenge. The idea is to judge compatibility before appearance — identity is revealed only once it's mutual.
What is the compatibility challenge?
Once you're interested in a locked profile, our AI generates 5 questions targeting the areas where you and that person are least certain to align. You each answer independently — neither of you sees the other's answers until both are submitted. Score 50% or higher together and you both unlock.
What happens if we don't score high enough?
The match is marked "not compatible enough" and identities stay locked — nothing is shared with the other person about your answers. You can optionally tell us what didn't feel compatible, which helps us understand match quality, but it's never required.
Why do I need to do a check-in every few days?
People's personalities and priorities shift over time. A short periodic check-in keeps your compatibility profile accurate. Matching and chat stay available normally between check-ins — you're only asked to pause and complete one when it's actually due.
What are deal-breakers, and how are they different from preferences?
Preferences (like age range) just influence ranking. Deal-breakers — children, smoking, drinking — are flagged as a genuine "important compatibility difference" when you and a match disagree, even if your overall percentage is high. We'd rather surface that honestly than let a high score hide it.
Is my data safe? Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can download everything we hold on you, or permanently delete your account (with password confirmation), from Edit Profile → Your Data. Deletion is real and immediate — it removes your profile, photos, matches, and messages, not just a "banned" flag.
How do I report or block someone?
From any unlocked match, use "Report or block." Reports are reviewed by moderators — we never reveal who filed a report. Blocking immediately prevents further messages and hides that person from your Discover feed and theirs.
Why does Discover filter by community/religion?
It's a hard filter you set at signup and can change anytime in Edit Profile. We don't make claims about compatibility based on it — it's simply a preference many users want respected before personality matching even runs.
